FIRST. OBJECTIVE

To look for alternative business opportunities while promoting the spirit of innovation in the whole range of products of BSH Spain, as well as in its industrial, commercial or economic processes.

SECOND. MAIN FEATURES

There will be two categories:

  1. Research groups from any university, both national or international
  2. Graduate or postgraduate students from any university, both national or international

Awards within the A category will consist of a prize money (*) of:
1st prize: 6.000 €
2nd prize: 3.000 €
Prize money (*) for B category awards will be:
1st prize: 3.000 €
2nd prize: 1.500 €
(*) The above amounts will be subjected to the tax deductions established by the law

All proposals meeting the minimum requirements in terms of contents and form set out in section four will receive a gift which will be given individually to all candidates.

BSH Electrodomésticos España, S.A. reserves the right to award one-year research grants and/or accesits for members of a research group in those cases where it is believed that their participation in the pre-project stage might be interesting.

FOURTH. PARTICIPANTS

Requirements for participants:

Category A (Research groups from any national or international university) is open to any research team whose memebers are two or three researchers connected with a university and at least one of them should be a University teacher.
Category B (graduate and postgraduate students) is open to any person who is connected wih a national or international university in any way, either because they are students at one of its centres or because they are currently participating in that university in a training, scholarship program, doctorate or any other postgraduate studies.
Employees from BSH group cannot apply for this award.

Application procedure:

For the presentation of proposals all candidates are required to fill in the application form available in the “Innovation Award” section in the website www.catedrabsh-uz.es, where they should include the contact information of all the participants in the research project.

Besides their application form, candidates must submit a report before the established deadline. The report, which must be a maximum of 25 pages and must not contain the names of any of the participants to guarantee the anonymity and neutrality of the process, will explain the contents and objectives of the proposal, the innovations, as well as the advantages that it may provide both for BSH and for the University of Zaragoza.

Together with the report, candidates should include a one-page summary of the 4 contributions of their work (innovation,applicability, benefits and quality), as well as an image that illustrates the ideas.

Summarized documentation students’ Final Dissertations for a University Degree, Master studies and Postgraduates will also be accepted, as long as the content can be implemented in the field of BSH.

To complete the application process every candidate must attach a document including clearly the full name and university connection of all the participants, as well as a photocopy of their national ID card or passport.

FIFTH. EVALUATION OF PROPOSALS

For the evaluation of proposals, the following criteria will be considered:

  • The project provides innovative, new, original and creative ideas.
  • It contributes with solutions to products, processes and economic management in ways not described in any document belonging to BSH Electrodomésticos España, S.A. or in the market, and it is able to create economic improvement or of any other kind of improvement taking into account the current situation.
  • The idea is applicable according to a viability study.
  • The inclusion of simulations, experimental studies and prototypes will also be taken into account.

SIXTH. JURY

  • President: Member of BSH Electrodomésticos España, S.A. assigned by the company CEO.
  • Members:
    • 3 to 4 members assigned by BSH Electrodomésticos España, S.A. taking into account the types of projects submitted.
    • 3 to 4 members designated by the Universidad de Zaragoza taking into account the types of projects submitted.
  • Secretary 3 to 4 members assigned by the University of Zaragoza taking into account the types of projects submitted.

SEVENTH. SELECTION

  • The jury, following the criteria established, will agree on the nomination of those applicants who have been rated highest among all the projects submitted, taking into account higher number of votes.
  • The ruling is discretional and not open to appeal. The jury will present the awards together with an explanation of the merits of the participants. The award may be declared void if it is estimated that none of the projects meet the requirements described above.

EIGHTH. INDUSTRIAL AND INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS IN THE SUBMITTED PROPOSALS

The participants must guarantee that the work presented is their own creation and that this work does not depend on nor violate the rights to industrial or intellectual property of a third part.

The results obtained from the award winning projects, particularly those which can be protected in terms of intellectual and/or industrial property rights, will be the sole property of BSH Electrodomésticos España, S.A., including all rights of use and exploitation rights, as well as the rights to apply for intellectual or industrial property as the only owner, both in Spain and abroad.

In case that BSH Electrodomésticos España, S.A. decides to place an application for intellectual or industrial property deriving from the work submitted by one of the participants, in particular a patent or an utility model, the participant will receive the same fair economic compensation as that of an inventor employed by BSH Electrodomésticos España, S.A.

In all patent applications deriving from the results obtained from the submitted works, BSH Electrodomésticos España, S.A. will not mention the authors of the patentable results, who will thereafter become the inventors.

NINTH. CONFIDENTIALITY AND WORKS PUBLICATION

The participant is aware that revealing to a third party any characteristic and/or idea included in the work competing for the award could impair affect the possibility of registration of the rights of intellectual and/or industrial property of this work. Therefore, the participant explicitly promises to maintain confidentiality regarding to the work presented, as well as not to reveal it to a third part nor to use it in any way which is not established in these terms and conditions, without previous written consent from BSH Electrodomésticos España, S.A., until the date when the awards are given.

In case that the participant reveals any characteristics and/or ideas before submitting them in their award proposal, the participant compromises to inform immediately to BSH Electrodomésticos España, S.A. about the nature and extent of such disclosure.

Except in case of award winning proposals, accesit or grant proposals, BSH Electrodomésticos España, S.A. is under no obligation to publish or make public the work of participants.

TENTH. NO REIMBURSEMENT OR LABOUR RELATION

Participants are not entitled to the reimbursement of any of their expenses. Applying to the award does not constitute under any circumstances a labour relation with BSH nor a job offer.

ELEVENTH. SUBMISSION

BSH Electrodomésticos España, S.A. and the University of Zaragoza will get in touch with the candidates in order to communicate the date for the announcement of the award winners, which will take place before the end of 2012.

TWELFTH. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

The applications must be submitted either in Spanish or English.

All awarded candidates authorize BSH Electrodomésticos S.A. to use their name and image for promotional purposes in case they win and accept the award.
All personal information provided by the candidates will be incorporated to a file belonging to BSH Electrodomésticos España, S.A., with the aim of informing by email about the most relevant news and activities involving the BSH Chair in Innovation. BSH Electrodomésticos España, S.A., located in c/ Itaroa 1, 31620 Huarte (Navarra), is responsible for this file and the use made of it. All applicants will have the right to access, rectify and cancel, as well as to refuse permission for the use of their personal information, which they can do by addressing their request to BSH Electrodomésticos España, S.A., in c/ Itaroa 1, 31620 Huarte (Navarra), indicating clearly as reference: “Data protection”.

The gifts presented to show our recognition and gratitude to participants may not be exchanged, altered or compensated under any request from the winners.

BSH Electrodomésticos España, S.A. is not responsible for the loss, damage, theft, delay or any other circumstance due to the courier company or to a third part and which may affect the shipment of the gifts given for participation.

The presentation of awards will be regulated by the current law for personal income tax, approved by “Real Decreto 1841/91” on 30 December 1991, as well as by the rest of the concurrent regulations.

Participation entails complete acceptance of these terms and conditions. Any statement indicating the non acceptance of any of them will lead to the exclusion of the participant and, as a consequence of this, BSH Electrodomésticos España, S.A., will be free from the obligations acquired with the participant.

Presentation of a proposal implies the acceptance of these terms and conditions.
